Cockers and Caulkers
I have to get used to blogging again. I feel like I have a homework assignment. No idea what I am writing about. I took a few notes and pictures. Here goes.
I am fascinated by the huge local bumble bees harvesting our foxglove plants all day long.
I published early last night. After dinner, Beth and I walked to "the boat". I probably mentioned it in a prior blog. There is a "shipwreck" in Inverness on Tomales Bay shore.
An old fishing boat that slipped its anchor years ago in a storm and has been in Inverness since. Beth and I often stroll down there in the evening, look out over the bay, and catch the sea breeze.
I like to look at the tide table while we are on the shore.
It seemed very unusual to me that there was only a 0.8 foot drop from the high tide at 5:13 PM to the low tide at 10:15 PM. That's like no tide change at all. I think it has to do with the new moon and that the tide follows a massive six foot drop from 5.0 feet high to -1.1 low. Not that anyone cares but me.
This morning, I schlepped over to my favorite grocery store Berkeley Bowl to shop [with a stop at Bovine!]. I went early because I can get in at 8 AM before the hordes because I am over 60. I just have to shop with the alta cockers. I put in my AirPods and enjoyed the experience.

I gotta keep catching halibut! |
Beth and I did a local hike from home up toward Mt. Vision.
We stopped at a bench to meditate for 15 minutes overlooking the marshy end of Tomales Bay.
One of the kitchen cabinets is pulling apart a little from the ceiling. I put my little caulker to work.
We read an article in the NYT about good movies to stream.
So far we've watched two movies from this list: "The Half Of It" and "Beanpole". I recommend them both. I plan to continue on down the list because I enjoyed the first two so much. The Half Of It uses the old Cyrano de Bergerac theme with some modern twists. Loved it. Beanpole takes place in Leningrad in 1945. Post war drama about two women who fought in the war and return to Leningrad and try to survive. It is based on a book, "The Unwomanly Face of War" which won a Nobel Peace Prize.
That's it for today.

For the record, I too care about the Moon's (and the Sun's) gravitational pull on Earth!
ReplyDeleteFYI, the first word in your May 28 blog ("Crap!")would have paired nicely with the title of this (May 27) blog. An alternative spelling of "cocker" is "kacker," which is derived from "Kacke." Google it.
