Queen Bee
Saturday, August 1, 2019.
Beth and I were just talking about how we never expected to live full time in Inverness. Here we are. Five months into it. I really like it. Right now, San Francisco (at least the area where we live) is deserted. All the workers in the financial district are gone. The streets are empty. It feels like a ghost town. The unhoused people have naturally moved into the void. We don't have a lot of desire to be there right now.
My boat is having technical difficulties (pumps and navigation systems). The wind and waves picked up. Not many boats going out for salmon right now. I miss it. I will try to get the boat in the shop next week.
I talked about the boat issues with Greg. He inspired me to put the boat on its trailer and tow it north to Fort Bragg where we can fish for albacore. Exciting prospect for me. He has done it and knows the ropes. Just watching the weather and fishing reports. Hoping.
I did not leave the house today. I did a little gardening. I finished a book, "Chances Are", by Richard Russo. I liked it. Mark Lillge gave it to me. He loved it. Beth hated it. I thought it was a worthwhile read. It is about three college buddies who reunite in their sixties on Martha's Vineyard and reminisce about their lives and a good friend who went missing years before.
I did nothing yesterday, other than a hike and a trip to Pt. Reyes Station for a few items. Other than reading, I have been doing a ton of NYT crossword puzzles. I am currently on a 121 day streak. My longest.
I also do the NYT Spelling Bee word puzzle daily. Yesterday, for only the second time, I found all the words, earning the title, "Queen Bee".
Tomorrow I am doing a long hard bike ride up north near the Russian River. King Ridge. I tried and failed to get someone to ride with me. I look forward to it anyway. I have done it many times before. It will challenge me.
I wish I had more to say. The last two days I took zero photos. I'll do better tomorrow.
