Plagues
I did legal work the last two days. Depositions for my old firm by zoom. I enjoyed it. The first deposition involved an old client of mine. Great to spend time with her.
It felt good to review the files and prepare the clients thoroughly. My preparation is usually harder for the client than the actual deposition.
My mental tools are still sharp. It was exhilarating to use them again. More to come next week.
We had dinner at Thomas' house tonight. We started off with a shot of herring juice to honor my Grandpa Meyer's memory. When I was a kid, he told us a story about pulling the bristles off pigs, selling the bristles to the brush factory and buying herring juice with the money, because they couldn't afford actual herring.
After the herring, we had a shot of Tennessee whiskey, chased by a shot of pickle juice. I suppose we could have eaten an actual pickle; but Thomas said this is how they do it in Tennessee.
Great dinner. Caprese salad, roasted yellow squash, chicken kabobs and steak.
While helping Thomas clean up, I needed to put something in the garbage. He has the most confusing trash/recycling setup imaginable.
Five separate buckets. Give me a break. I know how to separate garbage from recycling. On a good day I can also cull out the compost. Five choices is insane.
We are planning a post covid "Seder". A party where we'll remember the plagues of 2020: Sickness, Death, Racial injustice, Fires, Trump, Climate destruction.
Beth and I leave for San Diego tomorrow morning. A long drive. We need a vacation. I'll report from there.

Next time, we’ll add the actual pickles to the menu.
