The Woodward Fire

 Friday August 21, 2020

I am in SF tonight. Fishing with the crew in the morning.

Biggest news is a fire burning in Pt. Reyes National Seashore. It is only about five miles from Inverness.

I took this photo yesterday from downtown Pt. Reyes Station. Too close for comfort. The fire looked closer this afternoon.

We received an evacuation warning today. We don't need to evacuate yet - just be ready.

As I left Inverness this afternoon, I saw fire fighting airplanes descending over Tomales Bay to pick up water to drop on the fire. Very real.

I stopped by to see my mom and sister and family, in Berkeley, for dinner tonite. I brought them some bounty from the garden.

Had a great dinner. They ate steak, my mom and I ate Beyond Burgers. Very tasty, with chimichuri sauce. The squash was delicious. Lynn roasted it in the oven. Sweet.

I posted an email on my workers comp list serve this morning, looking for work. Three responses so far. It feels good to be wanted and valued.

We are worried about the fire. On top of everything else - now this!

  1. All I’m doing these days is looking at maps: Covid maps, fire maps, air quality maps, and now, because Kate is at Tulane, hurricane maps!

  2. Y'all are welcome to evacuate to my house anytime.
